Free Swim Clinic

February 26 -- please note date change due to pool construction!

Open to all swimmers and families, regardless of current registration status. All participants will require a waiver form, available at the clinic.

10:00-10:45 – 8 & unders (note: for safety reasons, swimmers must be able to swim length of the pool to participate in the clinic).
11:00-11:30 – 9 & 10 year old swimmers
11:45-12:15 – 11 and ups

March 5^th – First day of LVST practice

LVST practice schedule

8 & unders 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. – less experienced swimmers

4:00 to 4:45 p.m. – more experienced swimmers

9 & 10 year olds 4:45 to 5:45 p.m.

11 and ups 5:45 to 7:15 p.m.

Sponsorships earn you a discount on reg fees

For every $1,000 LVST new sponsorship brought in, you can receive one free swim team registration. Check with your employer or other business you are affiliated with to see if they would like to sponsor LVST with a tax deductible donation. Send an email to sponsorships@lvst.org with any questions and for sponsorship forms.

Personal referrals are a great way to build our swim team membership! Tell a friend about LVST and invite them to our Meet the Coaches night on February 3^rd. Your reward is helping to build a great community!

2012 is just around the corner – your board of directors are looking forward to another great season and would like to update you on all the happenings.

Coaching Staff announcement

First off we are very happy to announce the LVST coaching staff for the 2012 season:

Jack Naylor Co-Head Coach

Amanda Larson Co-Head Coach

We are pleased to announce that Jack Naylor and Amanda Larson will be sharing the Head Coach duties for the 2012 season. Our head coach from last season, Kristin Lahey, has moved on to a career position in marketing. We wish her well and thank her for her contribution.

Jack returns for his 3^rd year of coaching the Lightning! He will to continue developing our swimmers and building their skills. Jack swam for the WaterDevils, he swam for Terra Linda High School (NCS qualifier) and then swam for Boston College (Big East finalist in the 200 breast). Jack is studying for his MBA and wants a career split between financial planning and swim coaching. He is looking forward to seeing everyone back in the pool.

Amanda is returning for her 2^nd year of coaching the Lightning! She will continue to help each swimmer attain their individual and team goals. Amanda graduated from UC Berkeley this past May and had been a member of the Cal Women’s Swimming and Diving Team, which won the 2009 and 2011 National Championships. Amanda was on the 2009 team and a coach on the 2011 team. She has worked as a swim instructor for Cal Athletics Camp and for the Summer Darts in Davis. Amanda is currently looking for work. She speaks Spanish fluently. Amanda is looking forward to another great season with LVST.

Registration opens Jan 3, 2012

We are still finalizing our calendar for the upcoming seasons events. We’ll send out a communication once we have everything scheduled. In the meantime here are some dates for you to be aware of:

January 3rd – Online registration begins

February 3rd – Meet our coaching staff for the LVST 2012 season

February 5^th – Free Swim Clinic

Two New Board Members

Please join us in welcoming our two newest board members for this season: Becky Anderson and Karin Naftzger. Feel free to extend congratulations if you see them around the community. We are thrilled to have them aboard.

Awards Night Tonight!

Sunday Awards Dinner – Dinner 5:00; Program starts 5:30pm

Our season will end Sunday night on the pool deck with our traditional awards night banquet. Bring your chairs and set them up on the pool deck and enjoy a fun evening to wrap up and celebrate our season. Dinner will be potluck sandwiches – please see below for assignments. We will wrap the evening with season retrospective slideshow.

A-L – Please bring cold cuts for sandwiches
M-Z – Please bring bread, condiments and sides

Beverages will be provided for the kids. Adults BYOB.

Last Week of Practice!!!

Hello all!

I cannot believe how fast this season has flown by. As you all probably know, this week is the last week of practice with LVST. For that reason, we are going to make some changes to the schedule:

Wednesday

Practice will remain at the normal time for all the groups. However, there is the beach trip for 12 & Ups…this is for swimmers who are 12 BEFORE tomorrow. We will meet at the pool at 4:00 and carpool over to Stinson Beach for dinner and stuff

Thursday

IVC day! I would like to encourage all of the swimmers who are able to go to IVC at 1:00 to join the team there. This will be particularly important for relays and backstrokers!!! Because we are going to the IVC later in the day, the morning practice schedule will change to the following (enjoy the sleep in!):

8:00 – 9:00 – 12 & Ups
9:00 – 9:45 – 9-11′s
9:45 – 10:15 – 8 & Unders

After the IVC practice we will go see Mr. Poppers Penguins at the Terra Linda theater @ 4:45 (and probably meet at the frozen yogurt place before the movie starts .

Friday

Pancake Breakfast! Many of the older team members have been part of this in the past, so I would ask them to come a little early to help get things set up so things will run smoothly. Practices will change a TON for this day, so please read the schedule below carefully

8:00 – 9:00 - 11 & Unders (yes, they will practice before the older kids)
8:40 – 10:00 – 12 & Ups (the ending is flexible…we will be GETTING IN the water by 8:40…if you would like to help out with the pancake breakfast before swimming you can arrive at 8:00…it would be VERY appreciated!!)

Saturday – CHAMPS!!!

Sunday – Banquet
