Big duel meet again.  We are swimming the fast and big team so we want to step it up and race them tough.  We looked great against them at All Stars last night.  Brace yourselves for some very fast swimming.  The warm ups will be 7:30-7:45 for the 11 and Ups and 7:45 for the 9-10s and Wolves.

Our last home meet… we’re in the final stretch!
We need 10 AM volunteers and 23 PM volunteers:

• AM SHIFT (medley relays through backstroke)
• 2 to Line Up 8 & Unders - herd those young ones in the right direction
• 2 Timer/Recorders – poolside job with all the action
• 1 BBQ’er – Prep BBQ, prepare and display condiments and cook
• 4 Snackbar Helpers – Set up, prep and sell snackbar items
• 1 Safeway Shopper – get a list and go shopping

• PM SHIFT (breaststroke through end of the meet)
• 1 Timesheet Paper Pusher - Organizes paperwork for data entry
• 7 Timer/Recorders – poolside job with all the action
• 6 Snackbar Helpers – Set up, prep and sell snackbar items
• 2 BBQ’ers - cook and clean-up grill, etc.
• 7 Shut-down Helpers – this is our last home meet! Yeah!

• I’ve forgotten what I signed up for. How do I get that information?
  Go to the website under Volunteers and click on the Sign Up button. Then follow the instructions to review your jobs by entering the e-mail address you provided when signing up. You may also request that your assignments be emailed to you.
• I need to get out of one of my positions. What should I do?
  If it is more than one week from the event/meet, go online and sign up for another assignment so that you still have a minimum of 6 positions. Then contact the Volunteer Coordinator at mswim@lvst.org with the position you need to be removed from. An email will be sent to confirm your new assignment. If its less than one week to the event/meet, it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
• I don’t know who to call to find a replacement?
  Call any swim team family – everyone understands the volunteer assignment situation and the need to make scheduling changes. Use the printed Team Directory for contact information of other swim team families.
• What happens if I don’t show? Or I’m significantly late?
  Missing work assignments and even being late for swim meets seriously and negatively impacts the team. A strict “Late Arrival/No Show” penalty of $100 will be assessed.
• My schedule does not allow me time to volunteer. What can I do?
  You can pay a volunteer opt-out fee of $400. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at mswim@lvst.org with your request to opt-out. Payment arrangements will be made at that time.
• I only have a High School swimmer(s). How many volunteer positions should I take? Parents of High School swimmers (those swimming on a HS swim team and will not participate on the LV team until May/June) are required to volunteer for 4 positions.

I am a Coordinator and need to find out who has signed up to work certain positions. Where do I find that information?
Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at mswim@lvst.org for access to our MSwim volunteer database (read only). There you will be able to search by events, meets or job description, etc. and print out your results.

Lightning Camping and Canoe Trip

These are two events you and your family don’t want to miss! 

Next Saturday, 6/19, after the Sleepy Hollow meet we will hit the road for camping on the river at the Alexander Valley Campground.  This is the same campground as last year, however we hope to be able to “circle the tents” a little more and not be so spread out.  We will be a bit higher above the river this year, but the views will be just as nice. The cost is $35/site/night.  Come for one night or stay for two.  We will have a potluck dinner on Saturday night and there may even be some other treats in store!  (The idea of a talent show has been floating around!)

On Sunday we will head over to River’s Edge Canoe and Kayak in Healdsburg.  Canoe rentals are $55/canoe.  A canoe can fit 2 adults and 1-2 kids (if they are small) or 3 medium sized kids.  Older kids (13 and up) may guide a canoe themselves at their PARENTS’ DISCRETION.  Because of all the rain this winter, the river is high and rushing.  You will likely not be able to get out and wade in shallow water.

You do not need to camp to canoe.  Just meet us there on Sunday morning at 10:30.  Shuttle buses to the “put in” leave at 11am.  You may bring your own canoe or kayak, but there will be an extra charge to transport it to the start of the trip.

Both of these events will be talked about for years to come!

Redwood High School Pool

       Summer is here and we are switching to morning workouts.  The summer practice schedule begins this Monday morning. 

• 12 and ups |7:00-8:30am
• 9-11s |8:30-9:30am
• Wolves | 9:30-10:15am
• Coyotes | 9:30-10:15am
• Foxes | 9:30-10:00am

       I want to apologize to all the kids who are still in school and have to miss these three days.  The Home Owners Association needs to open the pool for their members and so we have to switch to mornings.

       Also I know some of you have camps and conflicts.  Our team policy is that a swimmer can move one practice up for scheduling.  Because of the levels of swimmers we cannot accommodate every level at every practice.  Please clear any moves from one practice to another with me first so we can figure out what works best for every one.  Thank you and again I am sorry that some of you cannot make the first part of the week.  We will make the rest of the week extra hard for you to make up for it.

The Championship meet is one month away and organizing this event is well under way. Every 10 years we host this event and 2010 is our year. It’s a mighty job so please pitch in as much as you can.
