The Championship Meet is the exciting culmination of the Marin Swim League season. Every swimmer on LVST should plan to practice for and attend this great event.  It’s a very special day, bound to be full of great memories!

The results of this meet determine the final team standings for the season.  Lucas Valley has a stellar record as the smallest team in the league and powerfully placing as the 3rd fastest team in a field of ten teams.  We have a lot to be proud of.

This Championship meet will be held July 14th at Indian Valley College. All league teams participate and all swimmers who have participated in a minimum of three meets during the season may swim. Nine lanes are used at each end of the pool, eighteen lanes total.  The meet takes all day to complete. Champs will be divided into two sessions; The 8 & unders and the 9/10s will swim in the morning and the older age groups in the afternoon. The events are scheduled in the same order as in a dual meet.  However, the heats with slower seeded times are run first, working up to the fastest seeded swimmers in the final heats of each individual event.  It’s truly a crescendo of spirit and excitement.

Points are awarded to the teams for swimmers who place first through sixteenth in each event. Swimmers in all heats are eligible to place. Medals are awarded to 1st through 8th place in individual events and 1st through 3rd place in relays. Ribbons are awarded for 9th through 16th place in individual event. High point trophies are awarded for first place and runner-up in each age grouping for both boys and girls.

Because of the size and length of this event, it is very important that parents ensure that their swimmers get a good night’s sleep before the meet. During the meet it is very important that everyone pay attention and help get the swimmers to their events on time.  Swimmers and spectators should stay hydrated and use plenty of sunscreen.  We will be hosting the snack bar this year.

We look forward to seeing you ALL at the meet.  Until then, keep swimming fast!
